Come with us!:
- We’ll begin our poetry experience in Alicante, where Miguel Hernández’s tomb is located, and from there, we’ll continue to Orihuela, his birthplace and home, and his House Museum. Watch the video of my visit…
- Most renowned poets: Federico GarcíaOn. On the way to Granada, we’ll begin discussing one of Spain’s greatest poets, Federico García Lorca.
- In Granada, we will visit Federico García Lorca, his family home, his museum, and experience flamenco poetry, recitation, and flamenco cante jondo up close.
- In Granada, we’ll visit the Alhambra and be dazzled by its beauty, the architecture transformed into poetry of Al-Andalus.
- We’ll stop by Córdoba to visit its impressive mosque and talk about the great era of the Caliphate, where poetry was central and where poets stood out, reviving the great Mozarabic past of the Iberian Peninsula. We’ll learn about the life and work of Luis de Góngora y Argote.
- In Seville, we’ll delight in the city and visit Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer, where Bécquer’s dark swallows will still delight us as they soar above his rhymes.
- Then we’ll continue to Cadiz, where Rafael Alberti, the Cadiz poet, gave us his museum in Puerto de Santa María, a bright white house overlooking the sea.
- We’ll end our tour by returning to Seville, where we’ll bid farewell. You’ll never forget this poetic experience.

Frequent Questions (FAQ)
In what language will this poetry experience be held?
Fluency in Spanish is not a requirement. Our journey director, Hugo Cuevas-Mohr, speaks Spanish, English, & french and will make sure everyone is comfortable and gets all the information in English, as needed, even the English version of poems when necessary.
Where and how will participants be accommodated?
We prefer small, three-star hotels or guesthouses where the service and character of the city are an added attraction. We primarily choose rooms with two beds for participants, and we will do our best to match roommates for participants traveling by themselves to ensure comfort and safety. Single rooms are available for an additional fee. We have hotels located very close to each other if we cannot accommodate the entire group in one hotel.
How will travel between cities be arranged?
Travel will be done in tourist minibus that we hire for the different journeys. During the journey, Hugo Cuevas-Mohr will talk about poetry, share poems set to music and recited, and answer participants’ questions.
May I have more information about food & restaurants?
We arrange breakfasts and certain group dinners. We always look for dining options that offer daily specials (food is very good in Andalusia, even in small taverns), and we will have set menu to ensure everyone can choose their favorite options. Many lunches will be at your own expense.
If I arrive via Madrid, what is the best option to get to Alicante or depart from Seville?
There are excellent train and plane connections from Madrid to Alicante and Seville to Madrid on the way back. We will offer individual transportation to and from the airport or station for a nominal fee.
